Escalon Police Department Training The Escalon Police Department complies with the California Commission on Peace Officers Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.). Prior to becoming a sworn officer, all officers must complete a P.O.S.T. approved Basic Academy. Once sworn in as a peace officer, officers must complete a P.O.S.T. approved field training program. The field training program generally lasts 12 - 14 weeks. Once an officer completes their Field Training Program, they receive annual perishable skills training, refresher training, and legislatively mandated training.
